Why not rent a soft surfboard for a month?
Why would I want to rent for a month?
We
have found that after surfing lessons a high percentage of customers
rush out and buy a surfboard in a rush, the main problem here is that
you will possibly end up with a board that does not help you progress
your surfing and in fact can have a negative effect. On a recent surf trip to the Algarve
we found that out of 10 intermediate surfers only two had sensible
boards which enabled them to improve. the bottom line is do not be in
a rush to buy a board, rent a soft surfboard instead for a period and
just surf when you want too, the more you get wet the better you get.
When you feel you are getting there, simply book another session with us or another BSA 4 star surf school to have a 'next step lesson' hopefully the end result will be giving you sound advice on the type of hard surfboard which will maximise your fun, wave catching and ability.
Sounds simple? Well, yes it is but the statistics show that not many are following this simple development pathway, which also will save you money in the long run on purchasing the wrong surfboard for your ability. Here are two videos of two guys that came on the Algarve surf experience and what they found out about their surfboards
