Well so far so good, surfing here is a world away from most surf locations in the Uk mainly due to the power unleashing on these magical but sometimes fickle sand bars, local experience is everything. Here is David Harris nearly making the drop on this super sucky Arrifana beach break.
Even with his angled take off he just could'nt make the turn. Surfing here is a great way for guys like David o really push their limits and increase personal confidence in the water.
Getting marmalised by sets pounding you and still coming up smiling is all character building. Imagine how much your surfing improves surfing and pushing the envelope in unchartered waters, well these guys are really pushing themselves and I think will reap the rewards when they head back to surfing in Britain.
Last night we went through a feedback session and pep talk to motivate people to 'charge', tonight we will be going through different types of boards and how they work in different waves. The Algarve surf week is an intensive, physical, and mentally stimulating course which aims to push your limits and improve your surfing skills, for more info on long weekends or week long surfing holidays click here algarve surfing holidays

| Here is Amos back in the surf and ready to put her North Shore practice to good use. Izzy, said the waves were too small for her, so I went in and managed to get to my feet twice. Amos is seen here doing what is known in the trade as the 'superman move'. This is when the surfer is too far forward on their board, which places all the weight at the front and the end result being seen in this video. The next organised surf trip to Portugal for intermediate surfers is in the middle of September and they run up until Christmas Eve. www.algarvegsd.com | |

In the heart of the Portuguese southwest natural park, which runs along the coast all the way to the Algarve. The area is unspoilt by major roads and has a sparse population involved in traditional fishing and agriculture. The landscape varies from flat coastal plain to forested hills. These days it is difficult to find untouched or well preserved rural landscapes but this region of Portugal is the exception to the rule. Demarcated to the north by the Tagus River and to the south by the Algarve hills, the region occupies one third of Portugal and is the ultimate surf safari.
