Nice one Megan! Well at last solid surf and sun for the surfers to get stuck into, by the end of the day the sun had gone and rain had started again. Sun and surf for those that did not give up and go home due to the horrendous weather this week, when the sun does shine it makes it all worthwhile. Here is a picture of the junior surfers enjoying body boarding at Caswell Bay in all its glory with a solid 2-3 ft ground swell and light winds.
I am hoping that the wind will stay light all day so we can surf out Crab Island again today.

It tipped down today but the junior surf academy enjoyed the empty waves and the bonus of an empty beach. What amazes me some times is the fact that people do not want to surf because it is raining! This is the UK it rains most of the time and by the way you are going to get wet anyway. This reminds me of the days when I use to manage a swimming pool and one of the most common complaints came from swimmers trying to keep their HAIR DRY and got angry when people swimming had splashed them Figure that one out....Anyway the guys today had a superb day on the beach warm in their wetsuits, what else are they going to do on a rainy day watch TV or play on the DS?
The school group from Liverpool had fun in the Gower sun today, down at Caswell Bay, Swansea. It is the sixth year that they have visited us here. It will be half term next week for England and Wales so do not forget to book in for our school holiday surf club run at Caswell bay Monday - Friday see you on the beach this weekend.
Down tools, the sun was setting and a small swell running down along Gower coastline. The weather was fantastic and has been for a couple of days now. The forecast is for more of the same for the rest of the week, at last. We have all just gone through 3 months of rain and miserable dark autumn like evenings.
Here are some shots of my attempt to get good at this ancient form of surfing even though it is new to our shores, and I have to say it is really hard but very rewarding.

The board is 12 foot long, I made the mistake of carrying it on my head the other day and ended up feeling like flat stanley, my head hurt for four days!!
I actually managed to catch three of these massive waves, am hoping to be ready for winter fun on this, but have a long way to go in my surf progress on these stand up surfboards.
