Are five fins better than 4? Bonzer fives, quads, thrusters, twins, single fins?

The quad that Chris Harris shaped me has totally transformed my back hand surfing, the thing loves going straight up and down, however, when the surf becomes a bit more serious it is time to jump on the Bonzer 5 shaped lovingly by Malcolm Campbell.

Of course you can use all different fin set ups on the quad to help ride larger surf, but to be honest it is super fun as set up in the picture below ( with two large fcs h2 fins at the front) going back hand in anything up to 6 feet (see pic 1)  When the surf starts getting above that this is my board of choice see pics 2 onwards)  The centre fin on the bonzers is a 6.5' but for the larger guns I have a 7' fin

The 6'10 Bonzer five above is 3 inches thick on the chest with heaps of volume kept up front for easy paddling and wave catching, checkout the rear end of this little hottie!  Sick a ?

Thanks to Malcom and Mike for help on dimensions etc for the surfboards

Thank you Mr Slater!

Well if the best surfer of all time is prepared to stick extra foam into his board to catch waves and ride heavy pipeline/backdoor with it then surely it is time for us mortals to look at our surfboards and ask the question does this thing work for me? Or does it just look cool?

Mr Slater's board was described as 'ugly' but he won pipe on it!   What would you prefer a board that helps you catch loads of waves and improves your surfing or a board that looks cool and allows you to sit there watching others having fun?  Anyway here is an excellent article by Surfline.com read it and think about it > MR Slater's surfboard

Danny takes delivery of the falcon from chris harris
Above, is Danny inspecting his crowd beater a 7' 4 swallow tail with wings and plenty of float to help with catching waves. Next to Danny is the surfboard shaper Chris Harris who describes 'the falcon' as a great board for those that have had a mini mal and would like to move on to a board that will enable them to do more turns and spice up their surfing. P.S If you book a custom shaped board through us Chris will give you a 10% discount click here for more information > Custom shaped surfboards
The falcon surfboard ready to go

Waiting for my unique Custom Shaped Surfboards

Custom shaped surfboards
Nothing like two shiny red custom shaped surfboards waiting to be waxed up and ridden hard!!

Chris Harris sent me the above image from the factory in Newquay, Cornwall where he works with Nigel Semmens and the Skin Dog.  One of the boards is a  'Deep Six' pin with channels and  is for my winter waves in the Atlantic garden paradise. The other a swallow tailed quad for good waves here in the Uk, the sort that do not warrant using my Chris Harris Fish or the magic yellow swell board!

If you are looking for a new surfboard order through us and get 10% off a custom shaped Chris Harris Surfboard click here for more info on Chris Harris Surfboards >  Ride British Surfboards    and here for some images of shapes > Custom shaped surfboards

Is it time to buy a new custom shaped surfboard, tailor made for you?

Chris harris surfer and shaper with the mullins   Winters coming and the other night surfboard shaper Chris Harris popped around Summertime, Apartments, Newquay to sort out surfboards for me and the Mullins (Father of Rich and Russell 2 of the top British Surfers).

Chris had a lap top with him and talked us through various designs inputing data to suit our specific demands such as waves size, types of waves each board was for, glassing requirements and type of fins needed etc Obviously I needed different boards due to my size compared to the reef inspector but Chris patiently went through the various dimensions like a scientist rather than a shaper.

If you are looking to change your quiver around or jump off the mass produced training board and on to a next step board which will help you push your ability then it is time to order your custom shaped surfboard.

If you book your board through us Chris will give you an additional 10% off not a bad saving!  Click here for more info > Custom Shaped Surfboards

I love Hawaii, it's that simple. Every wave tests you and your ability. I truly believe that if one is to be a surfer he/she must travel to the home of surfing to sample it's delights at least once.
