Just a quick thank you to the staff of Ocean bar in Mumbles for providing excellent food for our team last night. Brett enjoyed a massive blowout burger, Ben had a veggie meal and the rest of us had Mexican. All the food went down well along with the good selection of beers.

They do not do food on Friday and Saturday evenings but well worth trying the place out mid week as it is never to busy and a cool place to chill out.

The Ocean Bar can be found at 61 Newton Road, Mumbles, Swansea  SA3 4BL, try it out.

The Lotus, Newquay, Cornwall.

If you check out their website you will see the following on it. 'Lotus Thai is Newquay's premier Thai restaurant. Established in 2002 we pride ourselves on serving the most authentic food possible. Our Thai cooks use only the finest ingredients, with
much of it sourced locally
...'

Chris bertish told me about the place, it is possibly one of the best Thai restaurants that I have eaten at outside of Australia, those around the table also agreed with me.

The food was fresh and very tasty, we had wine, thai beer and excellent service for four people the price about £75's which was fantastic value.

Chris has headed back to Cape Town now but told me he used to eat there once a week. I will certainly be eating there again next weekend.

This eating place gets a 9/10 for excellent all round quality and service.

Keep up the good work Lotus staff and management see you soon.

About this category.

I travel between the two locations weekly due to work and training on the P.W.C and eat out frequently. I was in Newquay last week and Chris Bertish told me about a Thai place that had superb food.

Now, Chris has travelled all around the globe and I trust him completely, so myself, Amy and the Mullins clan headed there that evening.  The Thai place was called the 'Lotus' click here for their link and to book.

I enjoyed the food so much as did all around the table that I decided to start blogging about similar experiences, which hopefully will help those that visit either location to make the right choice.

I will only blog about those food and drinking establishments that are truly worth while as regards the food, drink, atmosphere, customer service etc.

What do I know about these criteria? Well if you check out the about me section you will see that I have worked for over 20 years in the leisure and tourism industry which of course is customer driven/led.

If you visit the places that I have raved about and had a negative experience please let me know.

Thank Simon @ SurfGSD.

FESTIVAL IN MUMBLES AT OYSTERMOUTH CASTLE SET TO BRING IN THE CROWDS.

The village of Mumbles in Swansea will play host to a high profile music festival this summer that will see big-name bands from all over Wales perform in a ten hour music marathon.

Organised by Swansea Life Magazine, The White Lady Festival is to take place in the grounds of Oystermouth Castle on Saturday 19 August.  With 3,500 tickets for sale, it will be the largest festival ever staged in the castle grounds.

The Storys, a local band that recently toured with Elton John to critical acclaim, will be the headline act in a line up that includes male voice choirs, gypsy jazz and classic rock and pop. They will be joined by other local names Mal Pope and the Jacks, The Poppies, The Amigos, Joe Schmo, Boys from the Hill and Mike Peters of The Alarm.  The Racing Cars from the Rhondda, famous for their top ten 70s hit ‘They Shoot Horses Don’t They’, will also be gracing the stage.

And there’s more than rock and pop on the festival menu.  The internationally renowned Morriston Orpheus Choir will create a different mood with their rock repertoire that includes Bohemian Rhapsody.  Local radio celebrities Kevin Johns and Badger will assist Mal Pope as compares for the day.  And there will be free kids entertainment all day long in the shape of a one man circus show.

“This isn’t just another pop concert,” explains organiser Laurence Winmill.  “It’s a sophisticated celebration of local musical talent that is aimed mostly at the over 30s and gives them the option to make a family day out of it.  We’ll even have a VIP marquee for companies to use as corporate hospitality”.

In addition to kids’ activities that include inflatable slides, bouncy castles, a climbing wall and face painting, there will be a hog roast, wine and refreshment tents.  Tickets are priced at £25 (children under 12 go free) and with the day starting at 12 noon and closing at 10 pm, people will have the flexibility to come and go as they please throughout the day long musical extravaganza.

To find out more about the festival visit www.swansea.gov.uk/whiteladyfestival or call the Grand Theatre ticket hotline 01792 475715.  Organisers are encouraging people to get their tickets early as it won’t be possible to pay on the door on the day.
