The summer that most will want to forget is drawing to a close our junior surfing academy will be running up until next Weds as some lucky guys are still on holiday. We will then be restarting our after school surf lessons down at Caswell Bay Monday - Friday 16.30 - 18.00 contact us to book in.
The last week has been hectic starting with a good perfomance by the surfgsd boys in the Jimmy Cracker sevens at Underhill park, Mumbles we managed to get to the semi final of the plate. It was an excellent day for team building and we are looking forward to playing as a team next year. ( I struggled to walk for a couple of days after though!)
Then we had two trips to Newquay working on Fistral beach with the Millfield rugby team and then a stag group on a weekend away. In between we worked with the guys from The Gadget show at the LC and we taught Jason Bradbury how to surf which was great fun and enjoyed by all. Should be on 5 this coming season.
Here are the junior surfing academy making a raft with their soft surfboards always a popular activity.
Simple go surfing, the sea temperature is the same, you will be in a wetsuit and therefore wet and warm, having fun in the rain, and the best bit is that the beaches will be dead as the only people that like storms, wind and rain are surfers here in the UK.
It is time that we get use to the fact that we live in the UK and not Saudi, British summers mean heaps of rain and storms, but on the upside that means surf, so make the most of the Great British summer and start surfing.
If your very lucky the sun may shine, but do not take it for granted....

Ask Dennis, seen above, riding the Atlantic surf who is currently living in South East London. He told me that they had looked at surfing in Cornwall and then worked out how much longer the drive would be than to get to Swansea and Gower (for transport information click here)
Dennis after being shown how to do the pop up simply paddled and stood up on his first wave. After about an hour I grabbed the camera and started taking pictures, so was stoked to get this shot for him.
I like the picture because:
1) I took it! Only joking... 2) Arms out pointing forwards and backwards giving the surfer balance 3) Knees bent and 'sitting on the toilet' position giving maximum stability and balance 4) Focus, Dennis is looking straight ahead which is giving him an excellent body position
Well done Dennis and thanks for surfing with SurfGSD and hope you get to do that parachute jump one day mate- would not catch me doing that crazy stuff dude!
Colin and family spent the morning surfing with us here on Gower, the beach in the background is the world famous Rhossili Beach. Colin stayed at the Village in SA1 there are plenty of approved places to stay here in Swansea and Gower.

The surf looks like it is going to be good again next Thursday onwards with the arrival of a new swell, just hope that the lovely weather holds out for us all as Rhossili was perfect yesterday and Caswell Bay was fantastic for our Welsh medium junior surfing class.
