GSD surf coach Sam Moore represents Great Britain.
At the end of April one of the GSD surf instructors, Sam Moore, went out to compete in the European lifesaving championships in Santa Cruz and El Mendano on the Canary Island of Tenerife.
Sam Moore seen here enjoying small waves with our junior academy at Caswell beach was given the honour of representing the Great Britain lifesaving team, which also had a strong Welsh contingent.
There were 4 days of competing 2 days in the pool and 2 days on the beach. The competition hosted teams from most of the European union, 18 teams in all.
Each team having 6 men and 6 women. The beach events part of the competition was very intense, with not a great deal of time separating competitors between heats and finals.
In the beach events including the beach sprints and ski race Sam achieved a silver medal in both which was a fantastic result for Great Britain and Sam.
Sam plans to work this summer as a professional lifeguard, surf coach for GSD and then in October head over to Australia for the winter to train and compete. Oh and of course score heaps of Oz surf on the way.
Well done Sam.
