Surf holidays and the joys of travel

We left our hotel at 6 a.m and arrived at Heathrow terminal 3 nice and early to book in went smoothly as did the 11 hour flight across the pond to San Fran. We are currently sat in airport awaiting connecting flights to Los Angeles and then on 2 Hawaii it is midnight in the Uk and we are both hanging... We are hoping that we make the link in L.A as otherwise it could turn out to be a very long journey indeed. Nothing we can do about it so just sit back and chill out, the surf is looking good for Hawaii this week so with a bit of luck will get some pics for you.

The oracle disguised and lurking in Wild West Wales

Here is the oracle aka 'the gill', in disguise about to jump in a zap cat courtesy of Gower Kite riders and under strict orders from Carve magazine to get pictures of Y BOCS a legendary wave here in Wales.

Carwyn Williams once said it was his favourite wave in the world and Chris Bertish described Y Bocs as the best wave he had surfed in Britain. The Gill, Matt and I jumped in to the zap cat and a bone shuddering, freezing 40 mins later were on the shoulder of the most disgustingly ugly super heavy wave I have seen in Europe. The Gill has been there heaps of times as have other photographers but no one has ever captured it correctly, well I think this time the gill has got some shots that could raise a few eyebrows from the surfing world, thanks to Matt and the Zap Cat.
I only caught 3 waves and the 4th was an airdrop on to the reef followed by a sucking over the falls and power driven into the reef, feet first thank God!!   As we powered back to the harbour the gill asked me what I thought, my reply was simple...'someone is going to die there..''   The pictures will be in Carve and other mags soon.
