Canyoning In Wales, Outdoor Activity Weekends ideal for Stag and Hen or Team building events
Canyoning In Wales
Canyoning in the Brecon Beacons, Wales, UK – What is It?
Adventure Canyoning in Wales can be a Combined Water/Rock Activity. Canyoning in the UK can represent a spectrum of activities some of which are mostly rock activities and some of which are mostly water activities. Many of the following names are used by different people to mean quite different activities:-
- gorge walks or scrambles (can be wet or dry or alternating the two, involving the ascent or descent of a water course);
- adventure walks or scrambles (covers a multitude of variations);
- canyoning, (usually wet. It traditionally involves the descent of a steep water course);
- adventure swimming (another name for coasteering or a non-technical variation of canyoning);
- river running (deliberately swimming down white water rapids).
Our session very much falls within the canyoning, river running and adventure walk descriptions set out above. Canyoning in the Brecon Beacons, Wales is not to be confused with the other activities such as gorge walking. The canyoning sessions are very much for the adrenaline junky! How does jumping off 20ft waterfalls sound?
What about a 30ft waterfall? If this sounds appealing then give us a call because this is the activity for you.
Who Can Do Canyoning?
Canyoning in Wales does require a degree of physical fitness. It can be demanding as it involves a lot of adrenaline, swimming and walking. However it is suitable even if you can’t swim as we provide you with buoyancy aids. It is normal to have people within a group who can’t swim. We would usually recommend that nobody under the age of 16 years of age attempts the full canyoning gorge. For younger less physically able customers we offer alternative combined rock and water activities such as gorge walking.
Where Can I do Canyoning?
Canyoning sessions are based in the Brecon Beacons, Wales, UK – in the part of the famous Brecon Beacons National Park known as waterfall country. We use the rivers in the Ystradfellte region of the Park which provides us with a wonderful adventure playground. You can’t do canyoning to this sort of level and in such stunning surroundings in many other parts of the UK apart from Scotland. So come to the Brecon Beacons, Wales, UK and sample Canyoning for yourself. It should definitely be on the list of things to do before you pass your sell by date.
