This year’s Saltrock surfing Open is set to be the biggest event ever, with a record number of surfers already confirmed.

The event is set to take place on 29th & 30th May in Croyde and is also set to put on the biggest and best display of women’s surfing in the event’s history.  Women’s confirmed entries have surpassed any in previous competitions and all eyes will be on Sarah Beardmore as she battles a many of the best female surfers in the world to retain her title.

The surfing categories will include:  Open, Women’s, Pro Junior, U16 Girls, U16 Boys & U12 Open.  Relentless will provide a prize of £250 for the Biggest Aerial, and King of the watersports will provide a prize of a £200 Skateboard for the highest scoring wave for Men and Women.

Ross Thomson, one of the founders of Saltrock is looking forward to this year’s competition.  “Everything has been going really well in the run up to the event and we’re all excited and looking forward to the competition.  Loads of outstanding surfers are confirmed, and hopefully we’ll have a repeat of last year’s weather and waves and another fantastic event for the South West.’

So, all hopes turn to Croyde to see if the swell gods will deliver.  Previous years have been blessed with epic conditions and we’ve seen some sublime surfing, so with any luck we could be in for a real treat this Whitsun weekend.

And if you can’t make it to Croyde this time, don’t forget that every wave will be broadcast live around the globe by Saltbox.tv.  We’ll keep you posted where you will be able to view the show.
