The A1Surf.com Retro Board Challenge in association with Wittering Surf Shop is back for another year on Saturday 30th  October at East Wittering

This legendary surf competition has two rules: 1) Competitors have to ride ‘retro’ surfboards, provided by Nick Cheshire; and 2) Surfers must wear fancy dress to compete.

David Somerville, from A1Surf.com said: “We love getting involved with the Retro Board Challenge as it’s such a fun event.

“Last year we had small waves, but sunshine and big crowds, so we’re just hoping for some bigger surf this year.

“Nick Cheshire, from Wittering Surf Shop said: “This event is so different to a normal comp in that the emphasis is on having a laugh with friends.

“The judges will score on good surfing, but also points are gained for costume and entertainment factor!

“We’ve introduced a reserve date of Saturday 27th November in case the surf is poor. We’ll make a call on Friday 29th October.”

The competition will be held at the bottom of Shore Road, East Wittering and spectators are welcome to come along and cheer on their favourite surfer.

Surfers looking to enter the comp should email david@a1surf.com or go visit Wittering Surf Shop. Places are limited so you’ll need to do this by Monday 25th October.
